The following changes have been implemented in Kaspersky Anti-Virus
Personal Pro 5.0 since 4.х versions:
• A new anti-virus kernel and use of iChecker™ and iStreams™ technologies
reduce memory use by twofold or more and increasing the anti-virus
protection performance by three times compared with version 4.0.
• The speed of anti-virus database updates has been increased through
automatic detection of the least busy Kaspersky Lab update server; an
algorithm has been added for downloading only the remaining part of the
update in case of a disconnection.
• The anti-virus settings can be adjusted through selection of one of three
preset protection levels with specific settings defined by experts at
Kaspersky Lab: maximum protection, recommended and high speed.
• The ability to disinfect files in ZIP, ARJ, CAB, and RAR archives has been
added.
• E-mail traffic using SMTP/POP3 protocols can now be scanned,
irrespective of the mail client in use, and a feature for disinfecting MS
Outlook and MS Outlook Express e-mail databases has been
implemented.
• A backup storage has been created in order to preserve backup copies of
suspicious or infec ted objects created before their disinfection or
removal.
• Quarantine operations have been enhanced - it is now possible to restrict
the storage duration for suspicious objects in quarantine. The ability to
send those objects via the quarantine interface to Kaspersky Lab for
analysis has been added.
